Ganoderma Slows Alzheimer’s Disease

One of the most detestable diseases in our society is Alzheimer’s Disease. It ravages a sufferer’s memory and creates havoc within a family that impacts them for many years. According to one article in Chinese Medicine News, “Lingzhi Slows Progress of Alzheimer’s”, it seems that ganoderma lucidum offers hope for the prevention and/or delay of Alzheimer’s Disease. Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by the excessive deposit of the β-amyloid peptide (β-AP) in the central nervous system. Researchers at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) have found that ganoderma lucidum produces an antibody against the β-amyloid peptide (β-AP) in the central nervous system:

“Taken together, the results prove a hypothesis that anti-aging lingzhi can prevent harmful effects of the exterminating toxin Aβ in Alzheimer’s disease.
“As a side note, an earlier research done by the same group of researchers at HKU found that anther anti-aging Chinese medicine gou qi (枸杞, Lycium barbarum) could also work against β-amyloid peptide neurotoxicity in Alzheimer’s disease.
“This group of researchers seem to believe that studies on anti-aging herbal medicines like lingzhi and gou qi may open a new therapeutic window for the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.”

William Stavinoha of the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in his “Ganoderma Lucidum as an Anti-inflammatory Agent” suggests that the anti-inflammatory properties of ganoderma lucidum is another reason for its promise in the treatment of Alzheimer’s:

“Of great interest has been the recent reports from the United States indicating a possible central role for inflammation in the development of such diverse diseases as Alzheimers Disease and Cardiovascular disease. This research has the possibility of linking some of the historical uses of Ganoderma in promoting longevity with contemporary Western scientific theory. The provocative connections are: (1) Ganoderma was used to prevent memory loss in old age (2) Ganoderma is anti-inflammatory, (3) inflammation is involved in the development of Alzheimers disease (4) Alzheimers disease appears to be ameliorated by chronic antiinflammatory use.”

  1. My name is Gary Lange, I am a new OrganoGold distributor. I have my own challenges, throat and head cancer for one, but I have a very spiritual elderly friend with Alzheimer’s. He is no longer in charge of the decisions concerning his medications, supplements etc., so I can’t say to George, I think you should take this, here are some samples and have him take them. The people in charge of what he takes have not been that approachable. Are there some definitive testimonials of Alzheimer’s patients who have been taking the OrganoGold products and shown a reversal in their cognitive decline that you can send my way, and maybe a way of contacting these people or their care givers by e-mail?

    Thank You
    Gary Lange

    • Hi Gary,
We don’t know of any personal testimonials, but the article that we posted on Alzheimer’s and ganoderma might be helpful to you: . All the best to both of you!
